There is no exact national statistic tracking how many U.S. drivers have completed defensive driving or refresher training. • Everyday driving skills that prevent collisions, such as space management, hazard recognition, speed control, and decision-making.
• Emergency driving skills, including how to respond to sudden hazards, evasive maneuvers, and unexpected roadway conditions.
• Driver attitudes and high-risk habits, such as distraction, complacency, speeding, and aggressive driving—and how these behaviors increase crash risk.
• How employee driving impacts the employer, including liability, financial exposure, public trust, and workplace safety responsibilities.
